Michael Callen is an Associate Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. His recent work uses experiments to identify ways to address accountability and service delivery failures in the public sector. His primary interests are political economy, development economics, and experimental economics.
Callen is the Scientific Director for Nepal at Inclusion Economics. He is also a Research Program Director for the International Growth Centre’s State Capabilities program and an affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development, the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, the Center for Effective Global Action, the Center for Economic Research Pakistan, and Empirical Studies of Conflict. He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, San Diego and a B.Sc. in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
