Summary:

Now Accepting Applications for Resident Post-doctoral Fellowship for the Gender and Growth Gaps Project

Economic Growth Center (EGC), Department of Economics, Yale

The Gender and Growth Gaps Project aims to critically examine the nature, causes and consequences of gender gaps in the economy in LMIC contexts.

Using a diverse methodological toolkit, the study seeks to advance the evidence base around the macroeconomic and microeconomic linkages and consequences of gender inequality. This will include examining structural transformation in the context of service-led and digitally-enabled growth in a number of LMIC contexts, contributing to developing novel tools for measuring women’s economic participation and its drivers and their validation in the field, engaging with leading institutional agencies that collect and publish data on gender gaps in the economy to improve current composite tracking metrics, and working with in-country partners in select LMIC focal countries (likely India and Ghana) to advise on the research program and translate research insights into policy and practice.

Within this context, the EGC is now offering a two-year Post-doctoral Fellowship. The post-holder will hold, or be close to completion of, an economics PhD with relevant research experience in empirical microeconomics. The post-holder will have responsibility for carrying out research as part of Gender and Growth Gaps project. Supervising Faculty for the initiative include Orazio Attanasio, Pinelopi Goldberg, Rohini Pande, Michael Peters and Fabrizio Zilibotti. The post-holder will also have the ability to manage their own research tasks and work with some independence on assigned work.

The two-year full-time Resident Fellowships will start July 1, 2023. Fellows receive a competitive salary plus Yale benefits, a travel/research stipend, and office space.

Applications should include the following:

· A cover letter indicating your interest in the Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Gender and Growth Gaps project and briefly describing your research interests
