Planet Money asks how a poor country becomes a rich country and why so many stall in the “middle income trap,” with the help of EGC affiliate Mayara Felix, Assistant Professor of Economics and Global Affairs.

“I think the remarkable successes, we can count on our fingers. It's Singapore, China, South Korea, Taiwan. That's it, man” - Mayara Felix

The team travels to Mayara’s home country of Brazil to explore what has and hasn’t worked by following historic pathways to growth through manufacturing exports. But Brazil also shows why the rules of the past might be changing.
